چکیده

OBJECTIVE Multi-frequency tympanometry and its components are extensively used to identify middle ear disorders. However, there are a limited number of studies that have attempted to determine its test-retest reliability. Thus, the present study attempted to determine the test-retest reliability of the different components of multi-frequency tympanometry. MATERIALS AND METHODS The resonant frequency (RF), F45, and ΔG were determined three times in 40adults with normal hearing. The results obtained across the three trials were compared to determine the test-retest reliability. RESULTS F45 and ΔG had excellent intra- and inter-session reliabilities. The reliability of the RF was also good, but it was relatively less compared to that of the other two measures. The study also showed that there was no effect of gender on the reliability measures. CONCLUSION Thus, F45 and ΔG can be clinically used considering theirhigh reliability, and the RF should be interpreted with caution. However, further studies on a larger group of patientsincluding a clinical group are essential for determining the further applicability of these results.

Measuring middle ear admittance in newborns using 1000 Hz tympanometry: a comparison of methodologies.

The present study aimed to compare three measures to estimate middle ear admittance in neonates using 1000 Hz tympanometry. Data were obtained from 36 full-term newborns, aged between 24 and 123 hours, who passed a transient evoked otoacoustic emissions test and assessed using a Madsen Otoflex impedance meter. The results showed that the mean middle ear admittances obtained by compensating for ...

Test-retest reliability of infant event related potentials evoked by faces

Reliable measures are required to draw meaningful conclusions regarding developmental changes in longitudinal studies. Little is known, however, about the test-retest reliability of face-sensitive event related potentials (ERPs), a frequently used neural measure in infants. The aim of the current study is to investigate the test-retest reliability of ERPs typically evoked by faces in 9-10 month...

Psychometric evaluation and comparison of three retrospective, multi-item measures of childhood sexual abuse.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate and compare the psychometric qualities of three retrospective, multi-item measures of childhood sexual abuse (CSA): the CSA Frequency Scale, CSA Count Index, and CSA Multiple Characteristics Index. METHODS Two samples of women 20-50 years old who experienced CSA were recruited from a family practice clinic (N=132) and the community (N=19). The measures were designed to r...

Effect of contralateral stimulation on acoustic reflectance measurements.

INTRODUCTION Acoustic reflectance is an important tool in the assessment of middle ear afflictions, and the method is considered advantageous in relation to tympanometry. There has been a growing interest in the study of contralateral acoustic stimulation and its effect on the activation of the efferent auditory pathway. Studies have shown that the introduction of simultaneous stimulation in th...

Individual Variability and Test-Retest Reliability Revealed by Ten Repeated Resting-State Brain Scans over One Month

Individual differences in mind and behavior are believed to reflect the functional variability of the human brain. Due to the lack of a large-scale longitudinal dataset, the full landscape of variability within and between individual functional connectomes is largely unknown. We collected 300 resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rfMRI) datasets from 30 healthy participants who w...
